May has arrived and that means summer is officially under way.

For the first time since 2019, we can enjoy a normal summer while learning to live with Covid.

With night outs, special occasions, and overseas vacations in sight, now is the time to get some summer in the spirit – and what better way to do it than by updating your wardrobe?

As temperatures are expected to rise over the coming weeks, we can expect to wear lighter clothes and have some fashion fun this summer.

But what are the trends to watch over the coming months?

According to fashionista Aoife McNamara, party dresses are about to make a big comeback.

“The short, bright and colorful dresses are absolutely gorgeous and fun to wear, and are going to be huge this summer because everyone is so excited to dress up again,” fashion designer Limerick told RSVP Live.

“I also really like the big bow feature, which has been a classic of mine since I started designing.

“This summer, it’s all about the clothes you want for the party.”

In fashion, it is often said that black is the most flattering color you can wear and can help you look slimmer.

But with summer on the horizon, Aoife has debunked this myth and thinks people should embrace color, especially when the sun is shining.

The key to finding clothes to complement your figure really has nothing to do with the color, it’s the cut.

Aoife explains: “I think it’s all about cutting the garment to enhance the silhouette. It’s all about embracing color.

“I know some people don’t like being out there, and that’s fine, they prefer to have a muted tone and not be the center of attention. But this summer people want to have fun again so I’m not going to shy away from color.”

Wearing bright colors not only helps you look good, but also feel great.

Aoife continues: “If someone walks into a room with color, they always inject happiness.

“I think people should try it, sometimes they might think they hate it, but until they try it, they never know and they might end up liking it.”

If you’ve been having trouble finding clothes that fit you while shopping, you’re not alone.

Many people struggle to rebuild their personal sense of style after the lockdown, but luckily Aoife has the right solution.

A universal design that fits everyone regardless of body shape, size or age, is a loose-fitting blouse of good quality.

“You can tuck it in, put it on, dress it up or dress it up. It really looks great on everyone,” he said.

The Go to Girl, a top from Aoife’s best-selling clothing line, ticks all of these boxes.

“This is a loose, sleeveless top, but fits perfectly on the unobtrusive part of your sleeves just below your armpits and features beautiful flowing silk for comfort.”
