Greetings Conroe, from “The greatest Lion Club in the world.” Conroe Noon’s local membership continues to grow and now reaches 319 members and is recognized as the largest community-oriented organization in Texas and Montgomery County.

CNLC serves our community by providing high school scholarships, youth scholarship contests, mentoring programs, and more. Because Conroe and the community around us continue to be successful in raising funds to support our young generation, our hometown heroes serving in the military, our seniors, and underprivileged children throughout the community. It’s because of our members, who give their time, financial resources, and hearts to make other people’s days a little brighter.

During lunch this week at the Lone Star Convention Center, members were treated to the 2022 Special Spring Style Show, which showcased our adopted Reaves Elementary School. The students modeled several summer outfits on stage to highlight some of the CNLC projects held throughout the year. Kindergarten and Pre-K sisters, Estel and Freya, serve as models for the Reading to Student program. The next model is 8-year-old Mia, who represents the Lion’s Eyeglass Center program. The Christmas Basket Project is modeled by second grade student Ariana and representing the Scholarship Project are Areilla Pre-K students. Then came Texas Lions Camp representatives, 7-year-old twins Kaleb and Tyler, followed by “kids on the lake” event representatives Melanie and Noah. And last but not least, 6-year-old Gatlin rocked onto the stage in honor of our Hometown Military Hero project with the voice of “Born in the USA.” A big thank you to the staff at Reaves Elementary School for showing Conroe’s future talent. The host is former Lion’s Club President, Scott Perry.

Speaking of Reaves, CNLC will also be hosting Sno-cone Days this Thursday and Friday at the school. Lion volunteers should plan to register and help out at the school’s last big event.

Our “Kids on the Lake” fishing tournament takes place on Saturday. So next week, look for a recap of all the wonderful special needs kids who’ll be catching fish, riding hay, and enjoying the bounce house. I’m sure it’s a lot of fun for all the kids.

“May Mixer at Madeley” will be held this Wednesday from 5-7pm. The Membership Committee hosts the spring mixer at The Table of Madeley, a new indoor/outdoor venue in the beautiful downtown area of Conroe, located at 316 Madeley St., Conroe .

CNLC will also host their annual Golf Tournament on June 2 at Walden Golf Course in Montgomery. Individual and team spots are still available but will fill up quickly. Contact the club office if you are interested in playing. Membership is not required.

And now I’m wearing my other hat and I wanted to let you know this Thursday at 11am, the Conroe Police Department will be holding a ceremony at Heritage Park in Downtown Conroe in commemoration of National Police Week. This ceremony has been held annually since 1981 and recognizes Police Officers who pay the highest price to serve their community.
